What's on offer?

An interactive workshop for families to try five different speech and language activities with their children that can then become part of their family routines and play. We will begin with a short introduction to the project and Speech Stars (5 min). Following this, participants will be invited to try the activities with their children. The project team will chat to participants and offer ideas as they try the activities (45 min). We’ll finish with a brief summary and an opportunity to leave feedback (15 min).

What's it about?

These events focus on promoting and raising awareness about low resource and cost effective strategies and activities to promote and support the speech and language development of young children (early years, reception and key stage 1). The workshops will be interactive with hands-on opportunities to try different activities that can then be continued at home or in early years and school classrooms.

Families who attend the workshop will try five activities with their children. These will increase families’ awareness of easy, time-efficient and fun ways to support children’s speech and language development.

The outcomes of the workshops are as follows:

Families will be equipped with practical ideas and resources to try at home, improved understanding of language development, knowledge and skills to support children’s talk, play and learning.
